Play Therapy for Children, Adolescents, and Adults:  Sometimes we need to use both sides of our brains to help us work through our challenges. Using Art, Clay, Sand, Words, Stories, and Play.

If you are considering play therapy for your child you can contact me either via email or telephone. I am of course happy to answer any questions you may have and I can forward a referral form to you to complete.

I will then arrange to meet with you to discuss your concerns and talk through the process. I may seek further information from the school or agencies that are involved in the child’s care.

This initial consultation is free and if you would like to proceed with play therapy we will make an appointment to have a more detailed discussion, complete any assessment forms, and provide a therapeutic treatment plan. I will also advise you on what to tell your child to expect from play therapy.

I will then meet your child (in your presence) so that I can introduce myself and talk to him/her about play therapy, what to expect and confidentiality.

Once play therapy has been agreed upon and a consent form signed* I will meet with your child 1:1 weekly at the same time and day. The sessions will last 50 minutes.

We will have review meetings every 6-8 weeks. At these meetings, I will not discuss the play within the playroom, but will provide a brief overview and also discuss strategies that might help support your child both at home and if appropriate at school.

*Consent: Before play therapy can start, the parent/carer (or person holding legal responsibility for the child) must give written consent for play therapy. The child must also give verbal assent before starting.
